Planning with a baseline
The required rate is the average bandwidth that would move the selected amount inside the time window at full line rate. For schedules that matter, add a margin for overhead, other traffic and retries.
required bits/s = data bits ÷ time seconds
transferable bytes = bits/s × time seconds ÷ 8
transferable bytes = bits/s × time seconds ÷ 8
Both modes use the same unit-normalized arithmetic, so reversing a calculation with unchanged units returns the original value aside from display rounding.
